“Hope is the thing with feathers,” said Emily Dickinson in a poem. This line stays in Frannie’s head, and she thinks about it all the time, from talking to her deaf brother Sean and talking to her pregnant mother. She understands hope as a little fleeting bird, coming and brushing its feathers against her. I think this book isn’t that good, because it’s kind of boring and nothing really exciting happens.
